The Valentine's Day dinner was excellent. The host provided name tags for everyone at the table so we wouldn't feel like complete strangers and really helped break the ice during this intimate dinner. Chef David did an excellent job creating a wonderful 5 course dinner that paired excellently with the different wines that were provided throughout the dinner. Overall, a wonderful experience!

Sherry Joe was an awesome hostess. John, the owner of Helvetia Vineyards, taught us so much about growing good grapes, the soil, water, sun and the temperature! He spent extra time with us and was such an amazing teacher! The history lesson of the region was incredible! I highly recommend the 2017 Pinot Noir! The art on the wine labels is beautiful!!

What I love about this place is its low-key, completely unpretentious attitude and atmosphere. It's like your favorite neighbors just happen to be really good at making wine. Come for the delicious wines, and stay to learn a lot about winemaking from John. After just one visit, you'll be treated like family.

We bought the Tour package with the goal of wanting to learn a little more about wine and we had an absolute blast. John our tour guide is the best. One of the best educations I have ever had on any subject. We spent almost 2 hours with him. It wasn't about drinking wine but moreso learning about the different wines and how they grow, the history of the Tualatin valley, it was amazing. Best part was smelling wines in the barrels and tasting the chardonnay. Mouthwatering the whole time. We had an absolute blast.

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour and wine tasting at Helvetia Vineyards & Winery this past weekend. Learned so much and tasted some delicious wines. Of course, had to bring home some bottles of our favorites! John was most informative. Everyone was so pleasant and the experience was enhanced by Winery pups, Cocoa, Pippin and the little Boston Terrier whose name I didn't catch.

The young lady that helped us was absolutely fabulous. The poor thing was shuttling several different groups but was still able to teach as well as enlighten us with the different wines and their special tastes. She even helped us with a map of all The winerys in the area and a little bit about them. The wines are very good and very affordable.

Fantastic service. Very friendly folk and an inviting outdoor seating area for a warm summer evening. I'd call it "down home" style with none of pretentious BS that so many wineries try and fail to pull off. The wines were great and prices decent. Now that we are locals, I'm sure we'll be back.

I'm so glad we decided to pop over here after visiting the Lavender Festival. I've never been a wine drinker, but their Pinot Gris may just have converted me. Delicious! Laid back atmosphere. Wonderful staff. Peaceful setting. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get some aerial footage (with permission of course) of this tranquil farm where time seems to stand still. Thanks again Helvetia Winery. We WILL be back.

I live in Orenco and when I have family and/or friends visiting I bring them to “John’s” Helvetia Winery. This last August my son and his wife bought a case of the varietals they enjoyed. I will be at their home in San Diego for Thanksgiving and they will pour Helvetia wines for our special day. How they weren’t tempted to open and enjoy them until our celebration is a mystery to me. These fine 🍷 will compliment our feast.

Go here BEFORE visiting any other wineries in Oregon!! You will learn about the history of wine making in Oregon and how the terroir of the area makes each wine unique. We took a walk to where the wine was made and even got to sample some very young wine right out of the barrel! Before we sampled the wine, John talked us through step by step how to taste the wine. He talked about each wine we tasted and was very interested in what WE tasted with each pour. He really wanted to hear our feedback and what our thoughts were about each wine. We enjoyed John's personality and presentation. If you want to learn more about wine making and wine tasting, this is the place to go.

We spent several hours here on a rainy Sunday afternoon and had a wonderful time. Our server was welcoming and lovely. The owner was a wealth of information about the area and shared the story of how he and his wife started the winery. The wines were very good and we especially enjoyed the 2018 Chardonnay and all three Pinot Noirs. We became members and look forward to bringing the rest of our family on a sunny day.

John and his staff at Helvetia are outstanding. I love relaxing at a picnic table and gazing at the farm lands. I have been going to this vineyard for 5 years and am always so touched at how welcoming and friendly John is. He has always gone above and beyond for any group events to share his passion and information about the wines, production process, and land. Bonus: cute dogs to pet and view of fluffy Alpacas on the way to and from the farm. This is the place you go to feel like you’re visiting old friends who make great wine.

Dog friendly. Great wines. Down a few dirt roads near farms. Easy parking and lots of seating. 1920 Sears catalog home, awesome. Everyone was so nice. 3 farm dogs come by to visit. Tasting fee is waived by purchasing a bottle. No one left empty handed. Highly recommend. They prefer a reservation but if you ask really nice on the phone before you get there they might have availability and say "Sure come on by".

I have been a Helvetia Winery Club Member for about 7-8 years. I have attended dinners, Wednesday summer music and wine events, and take a tour. John and his knowledgeable staff is great! The personalized touches always make me feel special. The wine is a perfect taste of the PNW and a reflection of our climate each year. The attention given to the grapes from soil to glass is noticed and much appreciated.

Always a lovely and easygoing experience at Helvetia Vineyard. It is different from any other winery that I have been to. You have the option to sit in the cozy living room in the winter, or the deck, under the tent, or at a picnic table in the great outdoors under the firs. Cute winery, the owner John and the volunteer Cassie were both super nice and knowledgeable. The winery is a house with a nice outdoor patio overlooking the vineyards. We enjoyed our tour at Helvetia with John! He was so knowledgable and told us all about the region and the wines. We tasted a few wines out of the barrel and a few in the tasting room to compare how aging impacts the wine. John is a winemaker and storyteller thy can rival any. Wine tasting as it should be! Our family had a great wine tasting experience on Sunday, September 8, sitting on the back porch...no pomp, no frills, just great wine, tasty smoked salmon, and enjoyable conversation with our host. The surroundings were as wonderful as the wine, with lots of room for families. We joined the wine club and will definitely be back for more fun tastings.

Loved coming here! It was a cozy and intimate vibe for our wine tasting, Derek was an amazing host and really made it special. We can't wait to go back again!

Bought the tour and tastings on Groupon. Learned a lot about the area, the soil, the climate and the fermentation process at Helvetia. John is a great tour host. Wish the Salmon and crackers servings advertised in the tour were more substantial.

If you're looking for a no-frills rustic winery with great points, this is it. A tasting flight is $10. Wine available by the glass or bottle. I had a great time chatting with the friendly staff. It helps if you're a dog lover.

Four of us went to the wine tasting and had a very enjoyable time. The owner is the one that does the tours and it's nice to hear directly from him how things are done. It is out in the country on gravel roads. Beautiful drive but better to wear good walking shoes and not heals. You will be walking a ways down a gravel road for part of the tour. John was delightful and we enjoyed learning more about the process of wine making and able to ask lots of questions. You can tell that he enjoys what he does. Thank you for a fun afternoon.

We love Helvetia! Our tasting server was friendly and warm, and he paced out our flights effectively. We loved sitting in the cozy chairs by the wood stove and the pleasant folksy band was an unexpected surprise! Only suggestion-fly traps could help control the little buggers. I know fruit and wine attract flies, but they were a little bothersome on this particular trip. See you again soon!
